P-39 Airacobra Gold Edition

WWII's powerful "tank buster" makes a fine first scale warbird kit

Pilot figure not included.

America's P-39 Airacobra made its debut flight in April 1939. Though intended as a pursuit plane, it proved most effective at ground support. Of the 10,000 that were built, only three flight-worthy planes exist today. Top Flite returns the P-39 to the air in 1/7 scale with this easy-to-build, easy-to-fly Gold Edition kit.

  • Easy, trainer-like ground handling...smooth and stable in the air

  • CAD-perfected interlocking parts simplify building and add strength -elliptical fuselage builds flat on the table, with no time-consuming carving needed

  • Very lightweight - performs exceptionally well with engines at the lower end of its displacement range

  • Includes a heavy-duty ABS half cowl, plus precision-formed ABS detail parts for scale realism without difficulty

  • Large fuselage easily accommodates radio gear, optional cockpit kit and retract air tank

  • Maximize the scale realism with split flaps, retracts and Top Flite's optional scale accessories

Take the P-39's scale realism as far as you like—for example, the kit's instructions explain how to create these operational split flaps.

Heavy-duty, 3/16" wire landing gear is included—or you can maximize in-flight realism by adding Robart nose gear and retracts. The nose gear makes ground handling as easy and familiar as a trainer's.
The interlocking "I-beam" system of shear webbing and solid basswood spars speeds up assembly - the ribs are automatically spaced and locked in place. The notched trailing edge also serves as an alignment jig to set washout.

Precision-formed parts recreate the P-39 Airacobra's canopy, air scoop, wing fairings, gun fairings and exhaust ports—without adding building challenges.
